Hi there! My name is Jody! I am a wife, mama, and own the Fabric Shoppe! I love to find BEAUTY in EVERYDAY life! I hope to inspire you here with fabrics, tutorials, recipes, and crafty inspiration! Stop back often and enjoy!
You are becoming so observant. I think you stared at the Christmas tree for 5 minutes when we put it up. You like to take in everything new around you. You are sitting up now but still need a little help when you lunge for your toys. You are not a fan of baby cereal, but you love when mommy makes carrots or squash.
Have you been in the baby toy aisle at Target? There are so many options! Who knew a 2 month old needed a fake cell phone to teach them colors and sounds! All the items claim to teach your child something. And you definitely don't want YOUR child to miss out on that learning opportunity! We have bought a few of the brightly colored items from that aisle but have found that she likes them for a bit but then back to her favorites.
Our big favorite right now is a bright orange handmade tag blanket. I carry it with us everywhere. She loves the bright color and probably the feel. I bought it on etsy.
Her second favorite is this flower toy by Lamaze. This one kept her attention even when she was really little with its songs. Both definitely worth the money!

Hey mommies, i found this interesting site that sells adorable cloth diapers with flushable inserts. G Diapers! You can flush, toss or compost the inserts. They advertise as no elemental chlorine, no perfumes, no dyes, no plastic layer, no latex, no garbage, no guilt! These aren't your grandmas cloth diapers. It looks like a great option for those eco conscience moms out there, and come recommended by Julia Roberts. The cute covers don't look too expensive and not very bulky. I have to admit that we use disposable diapers right now but have looked into this option a bit. I don't know if we will switch but I thought I would share!
Last weekend we took a little trip to the applefest. I love festivals, especially this one. The changing leaves made the winding drive beautiful. We arrived and the weather was crisp but the sun was out!
We stopped at their small town library "book sale" and picked up a few used books for 50 cents. What a deal. I got Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky and New Moon by Stephanie Meyers. Then we wandered through all the vendors and crafts. It is so funny to see all the apple creations: apple pie, apple cheesecake, fried apples, apple beer, and apple tacos to name a few. We had the baby all bundled up and she looked so cozy in her new hat I made her.
I picked up some of my favorite honeycrisp apples! I am sad that they are here only in the fall and they are so expensive, they taste like candy! I am going to make some homemade applesause with them. I found a recipe that looks so delish!! I will post it later this week if it turns out well. It was a fun little family day!
So I was out rummage sailing a few weekends ago and picked up this adorable set of books for like 50 cents. Yippee what a find! They are popup books with great vibrant colors. I am slowly trying to build up our kids book collection! Anyways... i started reading it and despite the beautiful colors and images they are just a tad morbid. Especially the "Oh my a fly!" Part of me says that i heard this rhyme when i was young and it didn't scar me...as far as i know! The other part of me says i don't want my little girl to be terrified of flies that might kill her! We will keep it and read it! But what age do you think this is appropriate for? Here is a condensed version in case you haven't heard it...
There was an old woman who swallowed a fly. I wonder why she swallowed a fly? Perhaps she'll die. There was an old woman who swallowed a spider that wriggled and jiggled and squiggled inside her. She swallowed the spider to catch the fly- I wonder why she swallowed that fly- Perhaps she'll die. ...(jump to the end) There was an old woman who swallowed a bird. How absurd to swallow a bird. She swallowed the bird to catch the bat. She swallowed the bat to catch the spider that wiggled and jiggled and squiggled insider her. She swallowed the spider to catch the fly- I wonder why she swallowed that fly. Perhaps she'll die. there was an old woman who swallowed a horse. She died of course.
