Featured Tutorial: Giant Floor Pillow with a Jelly Roll!

Here is a great tutorial via Moda Bake Shop for these comfy floor pillows using jelly rolls. For those of you not familiar with jelly rolls they are 2 inch precut strips cut from an entire line of fabric! We have many available in the Fabric Shoppe from different lines and kona solids! 

Just Wing It Jelly Roll

All you need for this project is:

1 jelly roll

2 1/2 yards for back of pillows

1/2 yard for piping

6/32" Cotton Piping (95" long for the small pillow and 140" long for the larger pillow)

Insta Friday at Everyday Beautiful

Here's a bit of what's going on at our house this week via cell phone pics. I am linking up to Insta- Friday at Life Rearranged. This post is overrun with food but that seems to be the theme around here with the local harvest happening. We get a CSA box, visited the farmers market, and bought apples and pumpkins at the orchard this week!

We hit up the pumpkin patch and apple orchard. Did a litlte running thru the corn maze with the kids. It was a beautiful day!

We are really enjoying the harvest in our area. Our CSA boxes have been overflowing with yummy end of summer produce. Some of our favorites from this week were the brocolli, butternut squash, and the carrots. Our dinner veggie plate with a little local goat cheese.

I also made up this veggie soup from our csa box and a few canned tomatoes that I had in the cupboard. It was a really yummy recipe!

Sunday after church and has turned into my scrub down the house day! I love that my little girl wants to help now. I gave her a feather duster and let her go to town!

We had craft night with a few good friends this week. We try to do this once a month later at night after all our kiddos are sleeping. I brought letters I had hanging on the wall by our toyroom and covered them in joel dewberry heirloom fabric with glue. A little tedious but worth it!

My friend was making painted canvases with quotes on them and she whipped this one out for me to hang in the Fabric Shoppe space. Acrylic paint, felt cut outs and twine and mod podge! {I AM IN LOVE WITH IT!!}

I think the insta-friday challenge from last week was post something blue. Here are a few blue things that have been hanging around my kitchen alot lately. Blue imunity smoothies for breakfast for the girls and I. Can you see my 1 year old sipping on hers thru my glass:)

{Nonfat greek yogurt, kefir, bluberry/pom juice, banana, ice, blueberries, ground flax seed}

We are also been trying our hand at canning! We made apple sauce, apple butter, and tomato sauce so far. So this the Ball blue book of canning has been out on the counter A LOT!

Everyday Beautiful Tip: Use Fabric Details for a Simple Shower

I recently helped host a simple baby shower for an old friend and college roommate! It was fun to put a few details together for the small group. I might be biased but fabrics are a fun and inexpensive way to coordinate all the little details for a shower or party. Lines of fabric are made to match so pick a line and easy-peasy. I went with fabrics that coordinated with the baby room colors. Vintage mint, pink and brown from the Just Dandy line in the Fabric Shoppe! First I made this simple pendant banner to use for decoration at the shower which then the new mama could take home for the baby room. We held the shower at Turtle Bread Co in Minneapolis. Yummm!  

I also made a orange sugar scrub as a favor for the girls attending! Baby food jars are perfect {and cheap or free}. All you need is sugar, a light oil{i used light olive oil} and an essential oil of your choice.There are natural alpha hydroxy's in sugar so it makes your skin look and feel amazing! Just mix up till you like the consistancy and add essential oils until you like the smell! You don't even need a recipe. Honestly!

Add fabric and twine to the jars for instant cuteness!

I wrapped the gifts in plain brown craft paper then taped a strip of leftover fabric  around it attaching it on the bottom with packing tape. Then just add a bit of twine to finish it off. 

The banner got a little wrinkled in transit but still *ADORABLE*. 

Favors and cake!

Really simple details that were inexpensive and easy to do! I probably used less than a yard total of fabric. Great deal considering it covered decor, favors and gift wrap! A fat quarter bundle from your favorite line would work perfectly for projects like these. You may want 1/4 yard cuts for the wrapping paper project!
