Bloggers Night Out with Martha Stewart

You can imagine my surprise to see this headline in my inbox one evening:

 "Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia has invited you to Bloggers Night Out" 

 

 I just about fell out of my chair and almost started crying.  I love Martha Stewart!  I was so honored that someone in the Martha Stewart Living Org. somehow has my email and felt I/Everyday Beautiful deserved an invite. Just had to share my excitement with all you lovely readers! And although two little ones and the business keep me from hopping on a plane to NYC this week I am pretty sure I am going to frame this little bit of encouragement!

Getting ready for Quilt Market

Well Quilt Market is this weekend where 1000's of designers, fabric and quilt shop owners, fabric companies and other creatives in the business gather together to see all the new products and fabric lines. It's always an overwhelming but exciting time.  Some of you know from Twitter that we are moving in order to expand our fabric inventory. I am excited for the added space and to be able to carry more beautiful fabrics for you!  I will be tweeting from Market if you want live updates (Follow on Twitter) and promise to post pics here too when I can.

Weekend fun!

Well the end of summer is here. Sniff sniff!  There is a tree outside my kitchen window that is all orange and loosing it leaves.  I can't believe how time flies.  We had a nice family weekend to celebrate the end of summer.  We visited the Minnesota State Fair this weekend and ate too much food! The baby loved the animals and we even let her tromp around outside the stroller even though we witnessed a runaway lama incident. She had a blast!

The handwork building was amazing.  I couldn't get over this quilt.  The pieces were so small (see my finger) and all hand done I am assuming. There were a few other designer fabric spotting!  Love the woodgrain cowboy shirt!

On Labor Day I was relaxing from our travels and flipping through my blog reader and I came across the Old Red Barn Quilt Along! 

 This round they are making wonky log cabin quilts lead by the Quilt Dad!  You can see all the progress on the flickr group! I immediately started picking out my 16 fat quarters!  I am so excited to get started.  The instructions are simple and this is a great way to begin with quilting or for those with experience to do a wonky quilt!  Here are my fabric choices!  They started Sept 1 but i think you can join in any time!  You should!  I will post my progress!

Busy summer

Hello all!  I have been feeling so bad that i have not been posting as much here in the last few months.  I think a few of you have noticed due to the encouraging emails that find there way into my inbox when i am not posting as frequently!  You readers are great!  Thanks!  I am back and here is a little update on the goings on here.  Lots has gone on here this summer! I will try to catch you up...  

We found out that we were pregnant in the early spring and are so excited!  It took all my energy to get out of bed that first trimester but I am doing great now. We have had really bad weather all summer but have managed a few summer grill outs and beach days.  

Out little "baby"  turned 1!  We went to the Mall of America which is not far from where we live and she fell in love with this bitty baby from American Girl!

   

I can't believe how much she has grown and changes every week.  She loves saying animal sounds and waving at every kid that she sees!  I can't wait to see her with her new brother or sister! 

 I turned 31.  But that wasn't really all that exciting:) 

We took a little family vacation to visit friends and family and also celebrate our 3 year anniversary!  It was in farm country and so we drooled over a huge farmers market, visited a heirloom seeds farm, hiked some beautiful trails and just relaxed. Ahhhhh!

We decided this was our new favorite summer meal!  Fresh mozzarella, basil, and summer tomato sandwiches...grilled!  Yumm!  I feel like I have had some success in the kitchen this summer with new recipes and will be posting some of the goods one for ya later! Thanks for listening...I have missed you all!

Sorry I have been MIA from the blog here for the last week.  My husband had a business trip and I have been preparing to leave for Quilt Market!  I can't wait.  I will take lots of pictures to show you all!  I hope you have a wonderful week and a Happy Mothers Day!

I found these lovely videos via Design Sponge!  I love Irish singer Lisa Hannigan and her videos are really crafty cool.  In one she constructs a paper cutout landscape! And the other one features a handmade pop up book! Pretty! I am off to Itunes to see what else she has!  I hope they brighten your Monday!

Christmas Photo Shoot in my Kitchen

We did a little photo shoot in my kitchen (it's the only place with natural light in the apartment).  My goal was to get a few good photos for our Christmas cards.  I made a little pink and green and tutu with the help of this little tutorial on youtube.  The hubby helped me out making sure the baby did not fall over!  Thanks babe!  And even though she would not smile I think I got a few keepers.  I will post our finished Christmas cards later this week.
